Site Changes

On 1 November 2010 the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was integrated into the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and a new website established at www.oaic.gov.au.

Note 1: Major changes to the Privacy Act 1988 will come into effect in March 2014. Agencies, businesses and not for profits need to start preparing for these changes. For more information go to our privacy law reform page at www.oaic.gov.au

(Available only to young adults and Australian youth organisations, educational institutions or other organisations with a role in the delivery of services to young adults.) Your Privacy is Important. Think before you upload!

The short animated video, a joint initiative of the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities, highlights the possible risks for young people of using online technologies such as social networking and gaming sites.

The primary message of Think before you upload! is that young people should think about the possible negative consequences of posting material online before they upload it as once it’s out there, it’s everywhere!
