Table 2: Results based on four key questions

This table outlines the audit results for government web sites that were audited during 2001, those web sites audited during 2000 and again during 2001. The results for sites audited only during 2001 are also shown. The results are for compliance with four guidelines (openness, collection, security and publication) stated in the Federal Privacy Commissioner's Guidelines for Federal and ACT Government World Wide Websites.

Audit results of compliance with Guideline 1: Openess are as follows.

Of 250 web sites audited during 2001, 172 (68.8 percent) complied with Guideline 1: Openess

Of web 125 sites audited during 2001 only, 72 (57.6 percent) complied with Guideline 1: Openess

Of web 125 sites audited during 2000 and again in 2001, 100 (80 percent) complied with Guideline 1: Openess

Audit results of compliance with Guideline 2: Collection are as follows.

Of 250 web sites audited during 2001, 54 (21.6 percent) complied with Guideline 2: Collection

Of 125 web sites audited during 2001 only, 25 (20 percent) complied with Guideline 2: Collection

Of 125 web sites audited during 2000 and again in 2001, 29 (23.2 percent) complied with Guideline 2: Collection

Audit results of compliance with Guideline 3: Security are as follows.

Of 250 web sites audited during 2001, 105 (42 percent) complied with Guideline 3: Security

Of 125 web sites audited during 2001 only, 46 (36.8 percent) complied with Guideline 3: Security

Of 125 web sites audited during 2000 and again in 2001, 59 (47.2 percent) complied with Guideline 3: Security

Of 250 web sites audited during 2001, 188 (75.2 percent) complied with Guideline 4: Publication

Of 125 web sites audited during 2001 only, 90 (72 percent) complied with Guideline 4: Publication
