Last chance to nominate for Australian Privacy Awards
9 July 2009
The Australian Privacy Commissioner, Karen Curtis, has called on businesses, community organisations and government agencies to enter the Australian Privacy Awards before the nomination period closes on 6 August.
"We want to recognise businesses, community organisations and agencies for getting it right when it comes to privacy," Ms Curtis said.
"The Awards offer tangible benefits, particularly by enhancing your reputation among your customers, raising your profile, and boosting the pride of your staff.
"Your nomination will also demonstrate to the Australian marketplace as a whole how good privacy policies and practices are achievable."
The Australian Privacy Awards offers Awards in four categories:
- Large Business Award (for businesses with 100+ staff).
- Small-Medium Business Award (for less than 100 staff).
- Community and NGO Award (for not-for-profit organisations).
- Symantec Government Award (for government agencies).
A Grand Award will be presented to the most outstanding entrant.
Last year's Awards winners include: Medicare Australia, Telstra Corporation, Data Solutions Australia, the Australian Dental Association NSW Branch, and the Child Support Agency.
Nominations are also open for the Australian Privacy Medal, to be presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to advancing privacy in Australia.
The deadline for Awards and Medal nominations is 6 August 2009. The presentation to winners will take place at a gala dinner on 12 November.
The Awards are sponsored by Symantec (Major Sponsor), Clayton Utz (Executive Sponsor), Microsoft (Sponsor) and the Child Support Agency (Sponsor).
