Media Release: A privacy first as Federal Court stops privacy breach

In a first for Australia, an organisation has successfully used section 98 of the federal Privacy Act to ask the Federal Court to stop an alleged privacy breach.
"The Office will take a look at the decision handed down on 21 May 2004 by Justice Gyles, in the case of Seven Network (Operations) Limited v Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance and ACTU Member Connect PTY LTD to assess if there are any potential issues for the operation of the Act," said Acting Federal Privacy Commissioner, Timothy Pilgrim
