Media Statement: New Privacy Advisory Committee members appointed

"I welcome the Attorney-General's announcement that three new members have been appointed to the Privacy Advisory Committee (PAC) by the Governor-General. I look forward to working with them", said Federal Privacy Commissioner Karen Curtis.
"The PAC provides strategic advice on privacy from a broad range of perspectives. Community, information technology, business, government and consumer views are brought to the table to help my Office meet its objective of promoting an Australian culture that respects privacy" said Ms Curtis.
"The Office is currently undertaking the review of the private sector provisions of the Privacy Act." Ms Curtis noted that "The PAC is helping the Office ensure that the review is conducted in a consultative and transparent manner."
"I congratulate the members on their appointment to the Committee," Ms Curtis said.
