Personal Information Digest

Register of Federal Personal Information Digests

Most federal government agencies are required to maintain a record setting out:

  • the nature of the various types of records of personal information kept by the agency
  • the purpose for which the records are kept
  • the class of individuals to which the records apply
  • the period for which the records are kept
  • details of how individuals can get access to records about themselves.

If you require this information about records held by a particular federal agency, you should contact the Privacy Contact Officer for that agency.

Each year the Privacy Commissioner collates this information from federal government agencies into the Personal Information Digest. For the Personal Information Digests from 1999 onwards see Materials and resources. Extracts for particular agencies are available on request from this Office - email privacy@privacy.gov.au or phone 1300 363 992.

Register of ACT Personal Information Digests

Like Federal government agencies, ACT government agencies are required to maintain records detailing information about personal information that they hold. The details are the same as for Federal government agencies. If you require information about records held by a particular ACT agency, you should contact the Privacy Contact Officer for that agency. The ACT agency information is collated by the ACT Government and is available from the ACT Department of Justice and Community Safety.
