On 1 November 2010 the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was integrated into the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and a new website established at www.oaic.gov.au.

Does the Privacy Act cover health information in the Private Sector?

Please note that if the health information is contained in your employee record and is only used by your employer for employment purposes then it is exempted from the Privacy Act. For more information go to Information Sheet 12 - Coverage of and Exemptions from the Private Sector Provisions.
