Site Changes
On 1 November 2010 the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was integrated into the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and a new website established at www.oaic.gov.au.

Why are people so worried about ID scanning?
Scanning puts your personal information in electronic form. This could make it much easier for it to be used for identity theft and purposes that you may not have agreed to such as:

matching it with other personal information.
