Site Changes

On 1 November 2010 the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was integrated into the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and a new website established at www.oaic.gov.au.

Will an IHI affect how my health information is handled?

No. The issuing of IHIs does not change the current privacy obligations that exist regarding how personal information and health information must be handled.

Healthcare providers still have to comply with their existing privacy and health law obligations regarding the personal information they hold about you.
