Site Changes
On 1 November 2010 the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was integrated into the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and a new website established at www.oaic.gov.au.

Can sensitive information be collected for AML/CTF purposes?
Some sensitive information may possibly be collected for AML/CTF purposes, for example political party affiliation. Where this is necessary, the sensitive information must be collected with consent and stored securely to guard against improper use or disclosure. Sensitive information is a subset of personal information and is defined in section 6 of the Privacy Act.
