Public Consultation2004 Review of the Private sector provisions of the Privacy ActFederal Privacy Commissioner, Karen Curtis, is asking organisations and individuals to give their views about the operation of the private sector provisions of the Privacy Act that came into effect on 21 December 2001. Submissions and Stakeholder ForumsThe Commissioner released an Issues Paper on 27 October 2004 to assist interested parties in making comments about the provisions. The Issues Paper provides a framework for assessing the extent to which the private sector provisions meet their objectives. Individuals and organisations may make a written submission to the Office or they can put their views verbally by attending stakeholder forums to be held around Australia during November and December. The closing date for submissions is 22 December 2004.
