Site Changes

On 1 November 2010 the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was integrated into the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and a new website established at www.oaic.gov.au.

Note 1: Major changes to the Privacy Act 1988 will come into effect in March 2014. Agencies, businesses and not for profits need to start preparing for these changes. For more information go to our privacy law reform page at www.oaic.gov.au

How to opt-in

If you decide to opt-in you will need to complete the Opt-in Application Form and return it to us by mail to GPO Box 5218 Sydney NSW 2001 or scan and email to enquiries@oaic.gov.au or fax to +61 2 9284 9666.

After verification, the trading name/s of your business and ABN (if you have one) will be placed on a public register as required by s.6EA(3) of the Act. You will not be charged any fees for opting-in.
